For my first post, nothing’s better than talking about my first official CD called Boo!!
Many people ask me about the meaning behind the CD’s name and artwork, etc. So, the CD’s name was decided before writing the music, I think this was the first thing that I did when I started the project. The meaning isn’t anything introspective (rsrs) it’s an explicit statement that the songs were of different sensory and technical qualities which can be found in the world market today. It’s something like “Something New, baby!”
But...
Pre-production destiny changed the title, in contradiction to my plans, to something very introspective and personal. My father died. So, in that time, I thought about the speed and intensity of life’s events, leaving this ambiguity of strength and weakness in the title and cover. Formatting the idea with Gustavo, designer of the cover, I decided to take a picture with a "strait jacket" representing what I was feeling at that moment, and I left Gus free to create the rest of the cover design. When I received the finished Artwork I was impressed by the fact that all other elements (birds, water on the head, colours, etc.) showed clearly the ambiguity that I had been looking for.
Naturally it can be interpreted by people in the way that suits them, but mine is:
Green colour with birds means, for me, the life, the moment.
Water on the head means ideas… creations.
The background was white because, the situation was something like: It's me and no one else.
The Project was a dream. Working with musicians who are an influence on me is something that is very gratifying. Billy Sheehan (Steve Vai, Mr Big), Mike Mangini (Extreme, Steve Vai), Fábio Laguna (Angra, Hangar) e Yaniel Matos (Kiko Loureiro) are people who besides being major influences are also great friends. I am happy, I hope that you are too, with the result that every day grows. (rsrs)
